Here are some quick tips for removing stains at home:
Apply mild soap and water to the spot. Rub and blot with a towel then apply ammonia and blot, vinegar and blot, add soap and water, rub and blot… and finally, apply clear water and blot.
Put a blotter or brown paper bag over the spot. Put a hot iron over the blotter. Move the iron constantly and do not let it stay in one place. Wait a few minutes until wax is absorbed into the blotter. Repeat if necessary.
Saturate the spot with hairspray. Allow it to dry. Brush lightly with a solution of water and vinegar.
Press ice cubes against spot. Wait until it becomes brittle and breaks off. Use spot remover to vanish last traces of the spot.
Saturate the spot with a cloth soaked in vinegar or alcohol.

Traditional, Modern, Tribal and Decorative are the four main types. We offer these in a wide variety of sizes, patterns, qualities, and price points. From traditional to contemporary, machine made to hand-knotted, small to oversized, World of Rugs has a lot to offer.
Most Oriental/Hand made rugs are generally made of wool, although some are made of or have some silk. Rugs of wool are extremely durable and consistently out-perform other materials. Unlike other fibers, wool is much more resilient, cleans better and stays clean longer.
The following are some simple steps that if performed regularly will help your fine treasure remain beautiful for generations.
Like most carpeting, Oriental rugs should be vacuumed on a regular basis to remove dirt and help restore life to the fibers. Be careful not to vacuum the fringes. Use your vacuum attachments to reach under the furniture to avoid moth damage.
Once a year, your rug should be rotated to ensure even wear. If traffic is excessive, rotation may be needed more often; less often if traffic is limited.
The beauty and life of your oriental rug depends largely on cleanliness and care. Depending on the amount of traffic, it is recommended that a professional cleaning be done every three to five years. Never clean Oriental rugs with chemicals or steam. World of Rugs cleans all rugs on-site. Pick up and delivery is available. Please contact us for a free estimate.
In most circumstances, a quality pad should be used under your rug to help protect it from wear and slippage. We will be happy to provide you with the correct padding.
In case of damage, just about any problem has a solution. Old and antique rugs sometimes need to be re-woven where worn and restored to life. Newer rugs are rarely in need of repair. World of Rugs maintains a staff of expert repair specialists to help you with any problem.
When spills occur, act quickly. Dilute with plenty of water and blot the wet area until all of the moisture is removed. For solid spills, take a spoon and carefully scoop up the material. The above information will help you eliminate most stains.

Two mistakes that people often make are:
When measuring, make sure you measure the largest the rug can be and also the smallest you want it to be.
Part of the rug-making process by Iranians is the superior dying process and materials used to make the rugs. Before being made into rugs, the yarn is washed several times, and, upon completion of the carpet, that same multiple-washing technique is employed. This is done to secure the color and to keep it from running.
While it is unlikely a rug will fade much, if at all, one will notice that their rugs will age gracefully. The term “abrash” is used to suggest the slightly uneven hues characteristic of natural dyes. The term itself is an Arabic word for dappled, and it is caused by factors including slight differences in how wool batches and dyes interact. Much time and care is taken to make colors meld together nicely.
The mellowing of color is a much sought-after quality of antique carpets. One will not see fading in our rugs like they will in rugs of inferior quality.
When a rug still looks soiled after vacuuming it may be time to clean it. Time between cleanings can vary greatly. Rugs in kitchens and entry ways may need cleaning every six months; in lower traffic areas every 3-5 years might be enough.
It is important to know the size of the space you want to cover. Measure the overall room, not just the area you feel the rug is going to occupy. Also, know your budget and enjoy selecting based on color and pattern.
Carpet pads are not needed to protect the back of the rugs or to protect the flooring from the rug. Carpet padding does add a softer feeling when stepping on the rug and may prevent a lighter rug from moving. It is the customer’s choice.
Depending on the size and quality of the rug, the prices vary. Many factors such as construction, materials, dyes and knots per square inch determine the quality of a rug.
World of Rugs has area rugs as low as $199, up to fine masterpieces in the thousands, and everything in between.
